HISTORY

Louise Kerr, Founder of the company:
“I became interested in voice training when, as an actress, I started running presentation courses for people in business and realised that although their knowledge and command of information was solid, their voice and lack of confidence let them down time and again and they often seemed trapped in their own bodies. I was driven to find out more about the voice and studied for an MA in Voice at Central School of Speech and Drama.

Resonance emerged as a company after I qualified and has gone from strength to strength – even though I took time out to work on TV as a voice expert for C4’s Faking it and C5’s two series of Gender Swap”.

WHAT DO WE DO?

At Resonance, we enable delegates on our courses or individuals who come to us for one to one coaching, to become effective and believable communicators and to maximise personal impact at every level of their career.

Our voices depend on our physical build – the voice is essentially a set of muscles - and our self confidence is dependent on our personal psychology so many different issues can surround clear communication and effective speaking.

We never try to be psychologists or therapists and by working physically on the voice and posture, the psychological issues of self confidence are often dealt with as long as there are no serious underlying personal problems.

In our experience, backed up by the excellent feedback we receive, the technical and physical work we do initially impacts positively on the presentation or negotiation skills which we work on once the core training has been implemented.

We do not ask people to be more confident. We show them how they can help themselves become more confident. We practise with them.

The feedback we have had from delegates on our courses has been overwhelmingly positive, and many have said that it has affected not only their confidence and communication skills at work, but their lifestyle. One female senior manager said that as well as expressing herself effectively in the workplace, she had finally won an argument with her husband!”
